I tried with the Grow Regina Community Garden but there was too much fear
and hysteria amoung a few of the membership. Proceed carefully or you will
find that predudice and ignorance will prevail. Good luck. Bees need our
help.

Hi Peter,
I understand that your book is about American cities, but in Canada we
have an interesting history of so called railway gardens associated with
the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Each major town along the CPR line had a

Here is a saying we use in our garden (www.growregina.ca):

Thanks Ken! I bought a set of hives from a farmer at the farmers market
last fall and want to donate them to our garden to improve the yield and
produce honey for the local food bank. I am just afraid that with 230

Hi,
Has anyone any experience with starting or maintaining a bee hive in a
community garden and in particular the politics and fear this might
create in the garden population? Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
Here in Regina we lost 280 garden plots in a large tract of land near
downtown in 2004. It was devastating and we put up a struggle against
the province that included some legal maneuvers and a well organized
political resistance. At one point at the height of the struggle, the

Hi Everyone,
I agree with Karen and I think it is very important that ANY public

Hi,
Sounds like you have quite the garden under way. Here are a few thoughts:
1. Without tenure you won't have interested gardeners who will invest
time or energy to create anything more than the basic field of potatoes
and carrots. After all, why put any work into improving the soil if yo

Bill,
Perhaps you can approach the city and ask for spigot water usage up to a
certain limit per week (on average). I am sure the reason you are having
difficulty is that the municipality wants to conserve water as drip
irrigation uses about 50% as much surface spraying. If you request 10

Can't really help you without a better idea of what your requirements are.

How many spigots do you need? How many do you want?
How much water do you estimate you need from the spigots if the NP water

Hi Everyone,
Our community garden (www.growregina.ca) is in the process of rebuilding
after we lost our previous 11 acre 275 plot community garden site. The new
3.4 acre site has been made available to us on a permanent basis in a city
park. The site is smaller but we have been fortunate to have

Hope this helps.
