Here's a wild idea. I have compost bins, not worm bins. If I notice a bunch of flying insects when I open the bin (in warmer months), I add a layer of coffee grounds or shredded newspaper, and I no longer see them. Since coffee grounds are free for the asking from coffee shops, I tend to use c

Hi, Folks! I've found that the easiest way to prevent fruit flies in the worm bin is to NEVER put banana peels in the worm bin. No matter how "clean" they look, banana peels seems to be loaded with fruit fly eggs -- there's always an explosion of fruit flies after adding a banana peel to the wor
