Just a reminder about growing food around houses. If your house is 40 years old it has a heavy metal halo around it from construction materials used at that time. Heavy metals are incredibly persistant in the environment. So if you are growing vegetables, probably a good idea not to grow around your house. Grow them in a garden. A community garden. Safe soils, safe gardens, healthy veg, healthy people.
