Helen's Fantasy Garden is blooming out into vibrant greens.
Helen attended the Mayor and Christy Whitman of the Environmental
"Protetion" Agency on Earth day with a possie of her gardeners.
Somehow she infiltrated the exclusiveley invited crowd and asked the
mayor "how is it with all the asthma and intense lack of green space
that all the prescios Brownsville gardens are under attack?
Later that night at the Brownsville's Community Board a ferocious Anne
Thompson from the Future Leader Garden blasted councilmember Tracy
Boyland (718-345-3110, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ) on her complicity in the
bulldozing of four Brownsville gardens last week. Those gardens were in
the middle of good-faith negotiations with the developer when they were
stabbed in the back.
Please call Mayor Bloomberg(212 788 3000) and tell him to correct HPD
(212 863 7000.) They've been telling developers like Acosta Headley
(718 624 6203) who are in good faith negotiations with the community to
bulldoze gardens immediatley or lose future deals. Tell the mayor that
this policy must stop immediately. Tell him to instruct HPD to start a
vigorous policy to create more gardens with truly affordable housing in
all of its present and future plans for our city lot >>

Sadly, 3 of Brownsville Brooklyn's gardens were
bulldozed this morning...10 Neighbors,
Future Leaders, and McKeefer. Tomorrow morning
(Good Friday), Helen Mason's beautiful fantasy Garden
will be plowed. More gardens to follow tommorow and Saturday.
The garden is at 181 Legion, between Blake & Dumont.
Helen's number is 718-399-9425 to send her hugs.
Her email is [EMAIL PROTECTED] to hear if theirs
anything else to do to help.
