Hi Judy, and all, It's been a while since I worked with our team using Earthboxes here in Scranton PA (where Earthboxes are made); but as I recall you don't have to use the fertilizer. The yield will not be the same -- at least it wasn't for kids who tried to grow organically in them.

Oops - I meant to ask: 1. if its possible to grow 'organically' using Earthboxes since that provide fertilizer recommendations, and overall what it to recommend them over in-ground gardening in the DC area. 2. The UN folks are promoting them because they can be rolled indoors at the end of
