I'd like to see an option to automatically group windows based on their
class, so I don't have to always manually group the same windows

It sounds like you did the release upgrade right at the time compiz was
being transitioned to a new ABI so when it wanted to upgrade compiz-core
it removed everything else. I guess the only way to know for sure would
be to see if anyone else runs into the same problem doing an upgrade
from 9.04 now

before leaving for work (8:00am) I started the process and it downloaded all
the necessary files required for upgrade.
When I came back from work (6:00pm), the process hadn't completed it was

I do, and I believe I was running nvidia driver version 180.something...
I've since updated the kernel and video drivers several times and have
not received this problem.
In addition, for the short time I've been on Karmic, I haven't seen this
bug yet either, again running a newer nVidia driver.
According to the upstream bug report this is fixed now that we're using
DRI2 and I cannot reproduce on intel hardware.

tankdriver: I am working on a fix that lets us have constrain_y enabled
again so this bug is fixed but will still let you move windows
underneath the panels using alt-click or keyboard commands so in the
rare case when you need to do something like that is it possible.

The gnome-panel is visible for maby 2 seconds after loged in the system, but
after that the panel dissapear. It's there but just invisible. When I want to
start something from the panel like gnome menu it's starting alright,

Yes, it seems to be the same. I didn't see it while searching similar
problem.
The error in .xsession-errors seems to be the same.
In addition I can say, that after clicking couple of times on things in

oh yeah, it's not the "shelf" but it's "drawer"
You can find it in the hidden panel by looking for the clouds describing
the program You are searching.

I must not seen this when searching the bug.

Thanks guys, after another updating the system everything back to the way it
should be.
After reboot the panel is visible again

after login in to the ubuntu, the gnome panel dissapear. It's there allrigh
Just did 2 successful suspend-resume cycles with current karmic, and didn't
observe any crashes.
I will reopen this if the problem comes back.

after the latest updates the flickering is over for me.

But is seems to be that the 3D performance is very bad now.
The bug is NOT FIXED, thats just a BAD workaround.
