Compiz automatically falls back to metacity if it is unable to render a
texture for any reason, although the main one is going over the max
texture size. It has done this since early in the lucid cycle. That is
all compiz can do for this problem, for now.

What do you mean by making it official? I cannot measure it, but it
seems to me that it is just a 1px area (I use only Radiance).

I believe the other window borders are designed to be 1 pixel for
aesthetics, so not necessarily a bug. The title bar having only 1px
resize area is definitely a bug.
Indeed, this also applies to the Radiance theme. If you can confirm the
bug, would you like to make that official? ;)

In Ubuntu Maverick, with the Ambiance theme, the title bar should have a
resize area that is larger than the one-pixel area for the rest of the
window. With the Metacity window manager, this works. However, Compiz
does not support this larger resiz
