TURN OFF MIPMAPPING.
Yup, that simple. I had mipmapping on (for whatever reason I cannot
remember). I turned it off and the app switcher behaves itself now
nicely.

unity-window-decorator crashed with SIGSEGV in
I agree with Martin. The lack of text in application-switcher and
'expose' is very annoying and productivity bottleneck; specially for
people like me who work with too many apps at the same time. Many times
I have to actually switch to a window only to find out it was not the
one I needed!

I have exact the same problem with my lenovo T510.
It happens after closing a java app (yed) .
The compi --replace brings the desktop back, but it's only a
workaround.

I'm having this problem also after updating to 11.04. I also have an
nvidia graphics card. I've install the xorg-edgers ppa and the small
button sized masks have been replaced with a desktop sized mask. I'm
running Ubuntu Classic. It seems to happen after the computer has been
running for a
hp with geforce 6150 go, incresing memory in bios helps me too.

workarounds such as using a different driver (eg. 173).

I believe I have encountered this bug too - my system seemingly hung,
but the mouse still responded.
I logged into a new shell using Alt-F2 and saw that the compiz process
