Happened always when maximize windows with option "Keep previews of
minimized windows" turned ON in Workaround plugin in compiz. Also I
didn't see that previewing minimized windows works (Ubuntu 11.04 and
Mint 11), so I turned this off and for now I didn't see white window.

Ok, sorry for my English. I make some tests with miscellaneous compiz

nvidia drivers) with enabled VBlank and refresh rate 120Hz (monitor
refresh rate x2) compiz works good until:

Public bug reported:
Seems to happen when doing launchpad merge proposals and a kwallet
dialog opens, it doesn't get focus which is slightly annoying :(

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10
Package: unity 3.8.16-0ubuntu2

I'll try the fix but I am able to reproduce it at will by using IntelliJ
Idea (either Ultimate or Community) by creating a new file in the
project navigator pane by using right click > New > File
Hope it's already fixed, but if not, hope this helps

@Pedro Villavicencio: assuming that your instructions have been followed
and a new bug was created, would you mind marking this one as a

I think I'm experiencing this same problem, but with the ati (open source)
driver. When it freezes, I am sometimes able to do Alt-F2 to get to the console
and kill compiz (and then continue operation), but most of the time it's a
complete freeze - requiring a reboot.
My machine is HP Pavilion dv

Hey Pedro, I've been using KRDC 4.5.1 for a few months now and the issue
seems to be fixed. It seems that the problem only showed once but never
repeated, so it might have been just a fluke.
Thanks for following up

I've got a fix for one case of this happening, where the client sets the
WM_TRANSIENT_FOR hint before compiz has a chance to set an input frame.
I know there are other cases too, so if you keep getting this crash
after the next SRU, please let me know.
I will attach a testcase which shows this hap
This change will not be made directly in Unity, so marked as won't fix.
However this should not prevent the community development of a utility
that could be downloaded, installed and used by those who desire this
functionality.

I had to downgrade to the compiz found in maverick because it seems that nobody
cares that compiz is unusable.
The only downside is that ccsm does not work so I guess I will try to edit the
config file by hand.

I have exactly the same symptoms, except the screensaver: screen freezes
while I'm actively working with documents, so the system is not idle.
Additionally audio is working perfectly (it still plays music, etc).

There are certain applications that should be handled in a "windows-centric"
way :
- terminal windows
- editors like gvim
- some users might also prefer windows-centricity for office documents
Please take into account this scenario :
- one terminal with a ssh connection
- one terminal for watc
