Went out and bought a microsoft natural ergonomics 4000 keyboard and a
microsoft mouse Arc touch.
Both will take some getting used to, but they certainly don't fix my
compiz problems...

I don't think that these bugs are directly related to each other. The
main difference is that the windows only start to move really slow
after some time. For me it happens faster if I use my desktop more
active (many windows).

I notice this problem on my AMD64/Ubuntu11.11 computer, and it's

Have the same bug. Simplest way to reproduce:
1. Set Static Application Switcher in Compiz as Application switcher
2. Open some Application
3. Open Task Manager
4. press Alt+Tab and look at Used Memory for gtk-window-decorator prozess
