Well, I have tried removing all the synchronization logic and everything
that could cause feedback in the Resize plugin, and it made no
difference. Good that deleting the code didn't make things worse. Bad
that this bug still remains. Maybe it's something to do with the
decorator?...

Ubuntu =), By not using compiz I mean that I haven't install Compiz
configuration System manager and haven't tweaked anything, like desktop

Recent Oneiric update of unity 4.28.0-0ubuntu2 fixed the focus issue.
Now it's possible to close an application and without mouse click intervention
it accepts shortcut ctrl+alt+arrow in order to switch the workspace. After
closing an application global menu automatically toggles to 'desktop'.
@Sean: Thanks for the tip re: upgrading Compiz from oneiric-proposed
(c.f., Bug #896762).
I've done so (i.e., upgraded Compiz) and, although so far the problem
seems to occur less often, for me at least it FAR from fixes it. Of
course, my version of the problem occurs more (perhaps exclusively)

Those PPAs contain several performance fixes, most of which are upstream
already (which means they should appear in precise by at least beta-1).
Regarding CPU usage, a recent fix for bug 888039 might be the solution a
few of you were waiting for. The fix for bug 888039 is already in
Correct; the fixes improve the performance of compiz in general. Not
just moving windows. It's not a noobish question but actually quite
perceptive.
The main improvement in game performance is best described by bug
861061. The fix for that is in ppa:vanvugt/unity.

application bugs (compiz + unity3d). So far we have this bug logged
against compiz/unity and it is apparently fixed in the kernel. Confusing
to most readers.
