I agree that it doesn't make sense to start Spread (as there isn't
anything to show).
But shouldn't the key events be caught and ignored by compiz instead of
being passed on? (i.e. Super-W on an empty desktop will start the
nautilus file search (bottom right-hand corner a text-box appears).

as the highlight shows which window you came from.

Actually, to support keyboard navigation (which is one of the only
reasons there is a highlight), we need to be able to exit to the
highlighted workspace consistently and ignore the one the pointer is
over. The fix should simply be to ignore the pointer location and use
the highlighted workspace
Please clarify the bug title so that it describes the problem, rather

I'm sorry to be rude/passive-aggressive, but have you actually read the
description? I have no idea how to make it more clear than that; it
explicitly describes the problem, it has steps to reproduce it, and it
explains why it's a problem. Does this title help?

I guess I phrased the title as a feature request because it didn't feel
like a very high priority bug, sorry if that was confusing. I'm sure

Why is this constantly being pushed? And being pushed at all, this is a
pretty critical issue that breaks quite a few laptops, I don't even
understand why you would ignore an issue like this and push it instead
of making it a top priority issue...
