I've got a feeling that bugs outside the default behavior of Ubuntu
won't be fixed. There's few people left working on compiz and they
probably won't work on bugs that only exist after you use advanced
features of compiz. This is really too bad ;(
If this bug is really the unity plugin rewriting

I've seen this bug lots recently, but always with maximized firefox
windows. However, just now I managed to reproduce it with a none-
maximized window. The window accepts both keyboard and mouse input but
has no decorations and cannot be moved with alt-dragging. It is almost
as if compiz has
Note this is XFCE not Gnome classic. I have also seen the bug happen in
Unity, but it was a long time ago and I have no idea if it still happens
there.

When will this fix be released ?
At least in 11.10, the bug is extremely prevalent.
I would estimate the probability of running into it as 60-70% 11.10, when e.g.
changing search engine in Firefox, or droping down a menu in the Bookmarks
Toolbar.

I also experienced random freezes after a 3d application ran, but only
with kernels newer than 2.6.33. The solution was to change preemption
model from preemptible kernel to voluntary kernel preemption. Might this
be related?

I can confirm that this has been happening on Ubuntu 12.04 as of
12/17/2012.
This usually occurs using compiz when the monitors go into ACPI power
save mode. This occurs using both the open source ATI driver, and
fglrx.

I still experience hard systen freezes with latest drivers. Only workaround
is to disable AGP completely (radeon.agpmode=-1). Starting KDE4 with OpenGL
compositing enabled freezes the system every time;

This usually occurs using compiz when the monitors go into ACPI power save
mode.
If it only happens at DPMS power save, it's probably not this bug but
bug 49761.

I've looked into this further.
First, the bug is heavily related to screen, keyboard, and/or mouse

interesting than the clock changing once a minute, all is fine for
