Okay, so the solution we want here are additional shortcuts to semi-maximize
windows vertically and move them to left/right parts of the screen...
The best way to achieve that:
1. Remove the changing of the standard shortcuts by
debian/patches/ubuntu-config.patch, so the original ones will work

when set to toggle_maximize_vertically. Instead, the default action is
used to just maximize the window.
Using metacity, this setting works

Noticed the same issue in unity (compiz, actually) as soon as the opengl
plugin is loaded.
It seems to happen mostly in multi-monitor: http://paste.ubuntu.com/5661055/

Sooo, is no one going to fix this? I mean if it is too much work for
Canonical to support the software in their own repo, maybe they should
not be putting that software in.

gnome-panel in ubuntu 13.04 works really bad, not only this bug, there
are other problems like maximize, close and minimize button doesn't
work, but seems nobody interested in this gnome-panel desktop anymore...
I can't move to 13.04 in a working environment...

First, why is Canonical letting non tested software into IT'S repos?

I'm not sure if anything changed here, but I had to manually install the
compiz-plugins package to get the Static Application Switcher
functionality. I don't remember having to do this, so maybe the bug is
simply that the installation no longer defaults to installing compiz-
plugins.
