XTerm works, so I can do a bit more to track the bug. It seems to be related to compiz / window management. If I disable/enable window management in CCSM, I see some failure in syslog (document attached). ** Description changed: I have just upgraded to 13.10. Some elements of the desktop

Just upgraded to 13.10 and I have this issue now. Worse, and maybe related, I have a screen flicker on one of two monitors every time I open System Settings , and when I click the `Detect Refresh Rate` checkbox in CCSM - Composite. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member

[Compiz] [Bug 1242207] Re: Compiz eats around 15% CPU when idle

2013-10-21 Thread Dmitry Pashkevich
I did some testing and looks like the cause of this intense CPU usage is Chrome's effect of flashing a pinned tab when it's updated (see a short video attached). When I open this tab to make it stop flashing, CPU usage of compiz drops down to 1-2%. One would think it's a bug in Chrome but I'm not

Hi Saurabh, This was intended to be fixed in Saucy, but it is only partially fixed. You should notice that the window will no longer be completely moved to other viewport. I did have a fix that also made it not switch the viewport, but that caused a number of other regressions, so that part did

2013-10-21 Thread Stephen M. Webb
Thanks for trying to track this down. The log file that would be of greatest interest would be ~/.cache/upstart/gnome-session.log which should capture any error from Compiz or unity. If you could attach that to this bug, that might help the developers track down this problem. ** Changed in:
