Seems your right about it being keyboard problem, but it is weird one,
other desktop switching combinations use as much keys but just this one
doesn't work.
I checked by first trying on my Desktop computer and then using the same
keyboard on my EeePC 1001PX with Ubuntu 12.04.

When switching between virtual desktops 1 and 2 its possible to move
sideways also moving up and down (3 to 1 or 2 to 4) works fine
Problems come when trying to move from 4 to 1 (ctrl +alt + left + up)
this doesn't work
however moving from 1 t
