Does this mean an upstream fix which would make it into Debian too? If
so what's the timescale?
Alternatively any way of getting a Wheezy-compatible backport sooner?

I can load compizconfig-settings-manager and make changes to the plugins

This is fairly typical of instability problems I've been having for a
while, but I tried to isolate an example which I could document well.
To create the crash I simply selected 'Place Windows' which was
previously unselected within CCSM. Immediately, Compiz crashes and all
I found that some folders in .config had been created with root
permissions somehow (perhaps through launching 'sudo geany' early on in
the life of this desktop to edit a config file - I can imagine this
would be an unintended consequence of the first run of some gnome
program being sudoed).
With more investigation, this seems to be exclusive to Synaptic package

some non-compliant way to create this issue.
I seem to recall that the Ubuntu update manager messed around with
window orderings (where you had to close it
For reference, in my case, activating D-Bus and Command plugins
destabilises my desktop to the point that Compiz crashes, so there is no
effective workaround.

This remains an issue in Lubuntu 13.04 Beta 2, so must be independent of

Public bug reported:
I've been trying to activate the plugins D-Bus and Commands but I

Still no understanding of how this could 'go wrong' if the Scale
