As a workaround you can downgrade compiz to 0.8.6 version:

@ tkoun : thank you for the feedback.
@ tkoun UbuntuTeam : I don't think Ubuntu can revert compiz to 0.8.6 version
in Natty. This would break Unity that is the real new stuff in Natty. And, I
think the bug is more trivial than we think, the difficult is to find it in the
code.
But,
This is not MS Windows. You can use any DE, for example: KDE, LXDE,
XFCE or any other environment made manualy
You do miss the point. Ubuntu comes with GNOME, not KDE, LXDE etc. and
gnome-panel and compiz are officially supported, not something in
universe.

Is there someone expert in python 2.6 2.7 (and viceversa) transition? the
problem forward-porting Compiz 0.8.6 to Natty is that Compizconfig 0.8.x works
with python 2.6 and I was not able to rebuild it on Natty.
Please, write me in private ONLY if you think to have a solution:
From a question retated to this bug:
In notification area icons with extension PNG are showed as 1x per 1px
icons width extensions XPM are showed normaly.
May be it is a bug in icons size detection for PNG format
Can someone confirm this behaviour?

@tkoun: thank you, but I'm not so stupid :-) python2.6 is still present in
Natty: http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/python2.6 simply it isn't the default
python.
So, I need help only to make a working package of compizconfig (and related
stuff) using it.

Well, I haved success. I compiled all compiz packages from Maverick in
Natty.
THIS IS AN EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE - PLEASE GIVE ME FEEDBACK IN PRIVATE

the problem is somewhere between gnome-panel and Compiz.
Surely it is, so I removed the link as a duplicate of a gnome-panel
related bug.
I 'm using compiz 0.8.6 on Natty and the issue is not present.
Then, the bug should be fixed in compiz or in gnome-panel but this isn't
clear at this
iand significantly more progress has been made on it/i

tkoun, I'm in agree. Ubuntu has an Desktop experience team that don't
see this heavy regression but spend their time with very cool (!!!)

That bug is related to Unity, this one is related to gnome-panel.
If Unity (and Unity 2d) has the same issue, it should be a compiz bug.
