this package is scheduled to be built and on which specific binary

Installed 340.24 from xorg-edgers on 14.04. Started firefox and google search
home screen flickered like mad. Installed the compiz patch and flickering
stopped. So far the patch is perfect. Will monitor memory consumption after a
full working day.

The temporary solution is to enable metacity via
"/usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/gnome-classic.session"

I checked those bugs, and one of the workarounds, "unity --replace"
works for me. The CPU usage goes back down to normal levels after that,
at least temporarily.

Okay Daniel, I've installed your PPAs. I'll let you know if I see a
difference.
Just to clarify my last post. When I start my computer, I have no
problems whatsoever with viewing videos, switching workspaces, moving
windows. Compiz then uses very little CPU at idle.

I get these crashes as well. The screen freezes when I wake up from the
screensaver (both OpenGL and X screensavers) and the picture freezes on
the screensaver. I.e. the screen shows the picture from the screensaver.
The mouse pointer changes over relevant areas of the screen. Sound keeps
playing.

pointer grab and gtk tooltips don't handle this correctly. The following

Hi David!
I just failed to enable Desktop Effects on my Karmic system, so I can't
try the suggestion out for you.
However, a four step repro instruction is at the top of this bug report,
so you should be able to try this on your own machine.
Basically, I really want windows to snap to edges and
I wouldn't say this is a duplicate of bug 160151. It's more like this
is a request for a workaround, and bug 160151 is a request for a fix.
I'd much rather have snapping fixed (bug 160151) than having the broken
implementation tuned (this bug).
