No... it affects only older, integrated nvidia cards. My new nvidia card
is unaffected, same with my friend's. If it were all nvidia products,
people would be knocking down doors at canonical and nvidia, flooding
them with complaints. It affects a good number of people, but most fix

In time, I've learned that the ubuntu devs don't care very much about
certain bugs. Take celestia for example: it needs to depend on the
textures pack so that the planets other than earth have textures, but in
a year and a half or more, nothing has been done. This nvidia bug
affects a small percent
In every case thus far, the old drivers did fix the problem. This problem
only applies to certain models of older integrated nVidia cards from what we
can tell. Unity is not the problem, I don't know why you think disabling
that will help. Unity just manages the windows, it doesn't draw them.

The workarounds are also listed above. Please read them. Then you will
understand why they couldn't be included in natty-final. We can't mod
users' BIOSes. It's not a good idea.

The reason it isn't in progress is detailed in the comments above, I
believe. Its because it is up to nVidia. There is nothing we can do
about it.

Thats a lame reason. This is the first generation of unity for desktop.
Of course it will have limitations, but it is still a huge improvement
on the old gnome desktop. Use a different notes app or ask around in the
ubuntu forums for a workaround on that, but that is the worst reason
anyone has yet
You could uninstall all proprietary nVidia drivers and then install
unity 2D

driver 173 is NOT a solution people! it is a workaround. It gives reduced
performance, etc, etc, etc. nVidia needs to get into action and fix this.

Duly note.. my nvidia driver marks as activated but not in use even
after completely reinstalling and multiple reboots. This could factor

In my studies it has mainly to do with the obscene memory usage Unity is
causing compared to previous versions of Ubuntu. 800MB idle! But yeah,
who knows.

I'm going to have to say that I have this issue, but its a strange

*exactly* like it should, except that its only 576px tall instead of
