Yes, this issue still persists, even after using the compiz build from
the PPA on 14.04 LTS. See screenshot attached.

I support the notion of Matthias Niess above. I experience the same, and
with the recent 14.04 updates, it happens a lot more often!

Public bug reported:
Compiz crashes -- albeit briefly -- when inserting a USB stick or other
USB device (Nexus 4, Nexus 7).
The screen seems to be loosing all of the window manager, but comes
right back.
This seems to be a regression, as this didn't happen previously...

Not quite normal, as now it somewhat breaks Guake. Before, Guake was
firmly attached to the top of the screen, and now there's a noticeable
gap between the top of the screen and Guake's terminal window. See
screenshot attached.
This gap wasn't there before.

I just stepped up from 12.10 to 13.04 in its current iteration -- and
rest assured, the bug is still there. :) Black screen, of course.
At least they keep the most annoying bugs for years and years on a

Public bug reported:
This is really annoying. Every time I work with MS Word under Wine,
after a short while the Ubuntu window border is lost. The only way to
work around this is running "compiz --replace &" from the command line.
However, this in itself is risky and sometimes my session crashes.
This happened when moving the Thunderbird window to my second monitor on
the right...

I can confirm the statement made above (#15).
Also, sometimes Thunderbird gets unresponsive and only by wildly alt-
tabbing it comes back to live, however, right-clicking and quitting it
crashes Compiz with the whole desktop resetting.
