When using the zoom controls in gnome-terminal or roxterm the window is
supposed to resize to preserve the number of lines and columns at the
new font size. This isn't working correctly; generally the windows
become too small when zooming in and too large when zooming out, but

bug from has Intel HD 4000 graphics, I'll attach a glxinfo from it.
Actually it also has an Nvidia GT650M with Optimus, but I haven't
installed bumblebee or Nvidia drivers and I'm pretty sure Ubuntu is only
using the Intel graphi

I'm using quantal with the Ambiance theme, but changing theme doesn't
seem to help. The window borders are all a bit too narrow to be easy to
grab to resize a window. The top border (the portion for resizing, not
moving) is narrower than the other broders and really frustratin
"Disable compiz" isn't a sensible workaround for this bug. Compiz offers
more than eye candy. Many new users wouldn't know how to replace it with
xfwm4 and would be stuck with metacity, so they'd be replacing a window
manager with a problem that can be worked around (Expo etc) with one
