not sure that the bug I'm seeing is exactly this, but trying to launch
ccsm in kubuntu 12.10 gives nothing but a segfault. (I normally use KDE
with compiz as window manager, but am now unable to launch ccsm to
modify the settings.)
name@macbuntu:~$ ccsm
compizconfig - Info: Backend : ini
Thanks for making the changes - it's been a couple of weeks now, and I
still only see 0.9.7.0-bzr428-0ubuntu6. Will 0.9.7.2 be pushed to
12.04 repositories any time soon, or there somewhere else I should look
for this package?
Cheers!

Sorry for the previous comment - realized that 0.9.7.2 is a milestone,
not a current release. (You can see the status of the milestone here:

I think this update has caused another bug - right clicking anywhere
when running compiz - 1:0.9.7.0+bzr3035-0ubuntu1 in kde 4.8.1 (running
latest updates in 12.04) causes the window decorations and panels to
disappear and the windows all become fixed on the desktop. I can't find
a log that shows
I should add that CPU usage no longer drives to 100%, however, but the
same effect is present.

Title:
compiz crashed with SIGILL
This bug is still around and has not yet been fixed.
Running Kubuntu with KDE results in panels option menus that can be
opened, but can not be closed. The panel effectively refuses to close
the settings menu, hiding a portion of the screen.
This may not still be the same bug, but I would
That's correct, I'm using an updated version of 12.04. If I can do
anything to help debug this, let me know.

Is this gnome specific? I'm having the same problem, despite being a
kubuntu 12.04 (up to date) user.

ctrl key now known
As of this morning, using KDE 4.8, the bug appears to be fixed. I don't
know which of the 4.8 packages fixed it, but it's now working as
expected upon restart with the current build.

I have started using Pickled Penguin... er... Precise Pangolin. The bug
is still present and still a show stopper. Kubuntu can not be used with
Compiz as long as panels do not appear.

This problem is still present, however, if I switch back to compiz,
(compiz --replace), the panel remains, and I can continue using compiz
as before. However, further bugs now show up.
I can no longer close the panel settings dialog. Previously, attempting
to close the panel settings dialog
Public bug reported:
1) The release of Ubuntu you are using
I'm using Kubuntu Oneiric with all of the up to date packages.
2) Version:
compiz1:0.9.5.92+bzr2791-0ubuntu1
kdm 4:4.7.0-0ubuntu10
3) What I expected to happen:
Opening any panel
I caused Compiz to crash by opening the panel window, then going to the
KDE menu and selecting Leave - Shut down.
The system was unable to shutdown properly and compiz crashed trying to
close the panel.

I notice this problem on my AMD64/Ubuntu11.11 computer, and it's

I'm happy to help debug this as I can.. I've had the issue for months,

For me, the seg-fault was caused by not having installed the compiz-kde
package. Once it was installed, compiz began to run without issues. Of
course, the Compiz default settings are now to have everything turned
off, including window decorations, so even once it began working, it
didn't look
I'm now getting this on a clean install of Maveric RC, fully updated.
