Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz
1) Ubuntu Natty 11.04 (beta 2) 2) compiz 1:0.9.4+bzr20110415-0ubuntu2 3) The title bar contents should change when the application changes it. 4) The change doesn't happen until the window loses focus -- or some other event requires compiz to redraw the titlebar. I've encountered this behavior in Firefox, GIMP, and GNOME-terminal. Firefox: Title should change with active tab's contents. GIMP: When an edited file is saved, the title should lose the "*" prefix GNOME-terminal: I use a PS1 that changes the terminal title with the working directory This may be similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/257391 which was first reported against Firefox in 8.04. However, given that the report is 3 years old and is "Triaged", I believe a new bug report is in order. This is a MAJOR usability flaw for me. I've been using Linux since kernel 1.2 (and exclusively for over 10 years). I'm a heavy command line user and rely on the terminal title to accurately report my current working directory. When working in the GIMP, I rely on the title to let me know if I've saved my work or not. All the eye candy is meaningless to me if the basic function of a window manager isn't present. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/768860 Title: Window titles only update after losing focus _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
