to when we install software. We buy a car, we own it, to do with as we
please. But we buy software, the publisher retains ownership and can
do with it as _they_ please.

I have the same issue with Quicktime. I explicitly do *not* choose the
Apple Updater software when installing QT.
It installs it anyway and then I have to go uninstall it after I'm done
installing QT. After doing this a couple dozen times, you get sick of it.
