Thanks for the information.

And yes... I did mean "tolerable".

I wasn't looking for a recommendation of whether to be a glitterati and
buy a Mac. I was really looking for a specific real world example.

Not to be a PC Bois, or is it busboy - I always forget (although I'm
sure someone will slap a label on me), without knowing what other
software is loaded on your PC and what's starting up when you fire your
system up, I don't know that you're comparison is necessarily fair.

NOTE: I'm not trying to start (yet another) debate on which is best or
what type of system to get for what type of work. I was merely looking
for a definition of *tolerable*.

I'm guessing you meant "tolerable"?

Let's say there are a hundred images I want to show a client. In
Photoshop CS3 I would create a web site with their "web photo gallery"
action. With my Vista PC, 2.6 ghz dual core processor and 4 GB of ram it
took 14 seconds per image (10 mb raw NEF files). That's about 25 mins
for the action to finish. The same action on the iMac takes about 5 secs
per image or 5 mins for the whole batch to finish. I have lots of images
to show lots of clients. The time savings over the course of a year is
enormous. Other actions yield similar savings. Not having to deal with
spyware-this-and-virus-that is even more time savings. If you're a
gamer/tinkerer get a PC. If you want to get work done get a Mac. No
system is perfect so get the one that works for you.
