Has anyone seen for sale a short (6" or less) USB (A-male to A-female)
extension cord, just long enough to get a "bulky" USB device/adapter/connector
a couple of inches away from the chassis connector (where the chassis
connectors are closely spaced, and the bulky device blocks several nearby

these guys have a 31" A to B that rolls up. either follow the company that
makes it, or get a b to a adaptor from the same guys.

I got something like that for my son to use with his memory stick.
I think I got it at Staples. It was actually less than 2" total
length,
and had a joint in it so you could rotate the female part up or down
out of the plane of the male part. This would make nearby ports
more accessible, but

problem, overcrowding on the back of laptops with USB devices.
I use it when needed.
I just got a Dlink USB Wireless adapter for my TIVO. It has an
adapter that has about a 2 ft extension on it to plug the Adapter in
so it is
