I have been putting 7200 rpm drives in my laptops for a few years now.
It makes a big performance difference. In the past they would eat up
your battery a little quicker, but the newer drives have much better
power management and the difference in battery life is negligible. I

have a 4200 or 5400 RPM drive with a 2 MB or less cache now, your laptop
will benefit greatly from a 7200 RPM drive with a 8 or 16 MB cac

looking at upgrading to a 160G replacement but I have a couple of qualms. I
use Danz Retrospect backup software and have a complete system backup to
restore from. My plan was to install Win XP, then Retrospect, then rest
Acronis True Image Home 10.0 and a USB adapter for the new drive.
