Hello all!
Visitors to my website will notice that Joseph Peanou,
Giuseppe Peano's doppelgänger in RHATL, has passed away.
This is because RHATL (Ray's Hellenic Alternative Time-Line)
has passed out of all existence, whether virtual or
otherwise, in this and any other universes. It don't exist.
It may be that somewhere WHATL or, indeed, some other
Hellenic Alternative Time-Line continues to have an
existence in the work of some conlanger(s). That's fine. But
they have nothing whatever to do with TAKE.
I have found the WHATL/ RHATL scenarios far too inhibiting;
those who remember Philip Newton's WHATL calendar for 2012
(i.e. approximately 2008 in our time-line) may remember the
problems. What is TAKE for the "Eiffel Tower"? "Well, er,
how do we know that the Eiffel Tower will be there in WHATL?
How do we know they'll be a city called 'Paris'?" and so forth.
TAKE has now become fully integrated into our time line and
I am producing a "Graeco sine flexione" which is classical
Greek without inflexions, purely as an intellectual exercise.
I ask those interested in TAKE to be patient during the
revision which, hopefully, will be completed over the next
month or so.

I understand this very well. Working with an alternative timeline
(or, a fortiori, with an entirely fictional world) throws one into
searching for answers on the most stupid questions, distracting
from the matters one really wants to engage with. It is much
easier if one stays as close to the real world as the project
allows. Also, a tight connection to the real world makes the
project feel more "relevant".
This is the reason why I chose, with my conlangs, to work within
the framework of the League of Lost Languages rather than Ill
Bethisad or some other kind of alternative world. There was a
time (in the late 1990s) when I dabbled much with alternative
timelines, but I now feel that I have grown out of that, and the
whole enterprise now seems almost entirely pointless to me.
(I still sometimes pay brief visits to two Albic-related ATLs,
one diverging in King Arthur's time, with an Elvish enclave
surviving in Somerset in a different UK, and one having the
ancient Elvish civilization never fall, but each time I try to
work on either of them, I quickly realize how unrewarding the
enterprise is. I should perhaps finally lay those two timelines
to rest.)

I think this is a fair decision. An intellectual exercise like
this does not need a fictional backdrop. If the Lojbanists can
do without it, why not TAKE?

I'd like to mention another sign of the phonemic nature of this r in
the few, but important, dialects that have it: it influences the
pronunciation of a following n, for example "Det er nok" [de&n`ok] -
compare the usual pronunciation of "nok" [nok]. Thus, as it is mostly
realised [0] and realised as [r] only before vowels, as well as
absent from most dialects, it is seemingly a dying phoneme.

Done. I confess I was a little reluctant, then realized that my
address is right out there for anyone to find if they do a whois on my
domain, and then they could pop that into mapquest or google maps and
get directions right to the house, so it's not like I was revealing
anything currently private.
Although fair warning, as I looked at the detailed view of the map in my
area, I realized that several of the things they're listing as apparent
good, solid, passable roads, are actually vague footpaths where a
hundred and fifty years ago someone cut a horse trail and named it.

Slight edit to the instructions:
1. For name, please list your handle or alternate names people in the
community would know you by.
2. For details, list your website/email and conlang projects.
Lots of folk don't have a website yet (hint,
http://conlang.org/hosting.php), or don't want to publish their email;
just list what you do have and want to share.
Or, y'know, other salient stuff you feel like writing there. It's just
a suggestion. :-P
3. Mind that you can always fudge your location, if you don't feel
like giving it exactly. The point is more to know who's in the general
area. ;-)

The map doesn't actually show all the roads so I fudged and put the
pin on the town's one and only traffic light. I figure that's as close
to the middle of town as I can get.

Gah! You should have said that this links to google. I refuse to use Google due
to its attempts to collect data about everyone and everything.
For the list, it suffices that I live in the area where the ccTLD is .de ;)

I did so. It seems like Conlang-L is mostly an American venue. There are
much more Europeans on the ZBB I think, mainly Swedish, Finnish, Dutch,
and British ones. At least regarding the active members.

The "blue marker" referred to in the instructions is a little circle, just
above the zoom scale? When I click it it starts to spinning, and nothing I
do, including clicking on the map, will stop it.

This doesn't work for me. I don't see any 'edit' button or link, and
once I log on, the conlanger window on the left goes blank and shows
only an "unable to load" message.
