exactly the same problem. No sound at all. realplay, as
xmms, as artsdsp, as alsamixer, seems to qork perfectly, but there is
no sound output.

there was a problem, the default vmlinuz version is not the
| same of the initrd
| which mean you have a mdk kernel and not a mdk initrd you may go in

it goes along with latest modules.pm which ignores unknown modules.
so my pb regarding floppy.o not existing in the kernel goes away.
