I tested it with vnc and it works, so it seems a xwin problem.
That's really strange anyway, for example for menu it forget to draw
bevel (only some simple lines!!!)

Same problems to me, but ONLY with KDE/qt apps. Other X application works fine

From your description seems that there is an apps that is started by kde only
when you open a qt window locally.
When this happens all other user can use KDE apps
