Oddly, I have no problems with a PCMCIA Ethernet adapter. Confirmed by my
syslog: pcmcia started, xircom_cb loaded, ifplugd.action eth0 up.

Still broken as of 7.06-5mdk. Moving PCMCIA to S08 works, but it freezes on
network startup if network is called before S11. I believe that the network
