           Product: kernel
         Component: booting
Summary: hp omnibook resets after loading initrd
           Version: 2.4.21-0.pre3.1mdk
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: blocker
          Priority: P2
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I tried installing Mandrake 9.1 Beta 2.
After rebooting, I tried "linux" and "failsave". The corresponding kernel
2.4.21.0pre3.1mdk was uncomressed (vmlinuz), then initrd starts, and I get
immediately a system reset. No kernel messages were on the screen, only the
uncomress message from vmlinuz and something from initrd, but I cannot read due
to immediate reboot. I can use 2.4.18 kernel from Mandrake 8.2 installation to
boot up the new installation almost correct.
System hp omnibook subnotebook 500series 700MHz P3mobile intel bx chipset 256MB,
dvd, ide-floppy, ext2 boot partition, 3 other partitions reiser-fs
(/,/usr,/export) , ntfs /mnt/windows, swap and a file exchange partition (fat16)
Same failure if update 9.1beta2 from 8.2 Mandrake or plain installation of 9.1Beta2
