I have been having the issue with all Xfree servers shipped with Mandrake 9.0.
My configuration is:
ASUS A7-VE system board, AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz, 256mb ram, Logitech Trackball,
Geforce 4 MX440 with 64mb of DDR ram.

It doesn't make a difference which X server I run or which Geforce driver I
try, they put the mouse cursor in the upper left corner and leave it there. I
can still use the mouse, but the cursor doesn't follow the movement.

I'll watch this space for suggestions.
My email is "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Thanks, Winston

I can't reproduce it here but can you chek that your video ram is well detected
in /var/log/XFree86.0.log ? And also try to use the following option:

Option "sw_cursor" "on"

description:
My configuration is:
Matrox G40eTV, Via KT333A, Athlon 2100XP , Logitech PS2 scroll mouse
(I actually got the same problem with the beta4, RC1 and RC2)
After installing Mandrake 9.0 RC3 in expert mode
I have a hidden mouse pointer:
I can select move and click on icons and other objects
but I cannot see the mouse pointer.
It looks like the problem is around Xfree 4.2.1 WITH 3D support
and the Matrox Driver, (but the mouse driver is ok).
If I use Xfree 4.2.1 withOUT 3D support, everything is fine.

I tried to add the following line
in the Section "Device" of my matrox G450eTV card:
Option "sw_curon"
But it still doesn't work (when installing Xfree4.2.1 with 3D support)

Please help/advise.
