------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-04-01 18:00 -------
Hi.

Installed Mandrake 9.1 onto this rig; the USB bug as described below is
still valid so I'm removing 9.1 & reverting to 8.2 again; under 9.1 the
system is unusable when multi-booting.

Thanks
Steve

Hi. Not sure if the bug is reported in the right place.

This on a Chaintech 7VJL mb with VIA VT83C572 / VT82C586 PCI to USB Universal
Host Controller USB 2.0 chipset; 6 channels total (3 dual controllers). This PC
can dual boot Windows 98 (not SE, has all MS updates to 2002/10/20) and ML 9.0
Standard DL edition. System has a USB MS Optical Intellimouse.

To recreate:
1. Run Windows 98; USB mouse works.
2. Reboot into ML 9.0; USB mouse works.
3. Hot reboot (i.e. anything except disconnecting mains) back to Windows 98: OS
cannot find mouse; USB subsystem does not work (seems locked up).

Workaround: remove mains cord from PC after using ML 9.0. Windows can now find
USB mouse.

Fantasy: USB hardware left in inconsistent state on ML 9.0 shutdown.

NB: Same machine ran ML 8.2 + Windows 98; no mouse / USB problems when changing
running OS.

Comment: for me a complete pain as must pull out PC to get to mains cable.
