Yes you can do that. gcompris uses plugins so you can create a package
with the chess board that contains:
%{prefix}/share/gcompris/boards/boardicons/chess*
%{prefix}/share/gcompris/boards/chess*.xml
%{prefix}/share/gcompris/boars/chess/*
%{prefix}/lib/gcompris/libchess*
And put a dependancy to
