i used kernel-2.4.22-2mdk, because i didn't notice urpmi --auto-select does not
upgrade the kernel.

using the 9.1 kernel does not solve the problem.
- cat /proc/bus/usb/devices only shows the USB hub of the motherboard. (driver
usb-uhci)
- sane-find-scanner does not

When the scanner does not appear in /proc/bus/usb/devices it is either a
hardware compatibility problem with the kernel or the scanner is broken. You

The scanner works perfectly well under windows, and was working with Mandrake
9.1 on the same computer before upgrade.
I tried it on another computer still under 9.1,
