With kernel version 2.4.20.2mdk the boot problem with /dev/hde/ UDMA disk is
solved.

I don't know if it is related to the same problem but with kernel 2.4.20-1mdk my
Mandrake Linux system will not boot. It hangs up after hdd probe. hde is an UDMA
