Hi!

I have gotten mandrake 9.1 yesterday. Just want to scribble my impressions
here ;)

1) Installation flawless, all hardware I have was recognized or was easy to
configure painless

2) a lot of translation flaws in the advertisements during install, including
        - header translated and text not and vice versa
        - corrupt display in mandrakeexpert-corporate advertisement

3) advertisement, spoke: " you want to learn how to become member of the
community ... have a look at our discussion forum at
http://www.mandrakesoft.com/company/community";, this is pointless, since
there are some informations about how Mandrakesoft is involved in the
community and at the end of the page is a link to the obsolete
mandrakeforum.com

4) wrong formatting done in the summary of kdegames, barely readable during
installation

5) during dial up ISP configuration, the National entries of a country should
be on top not as an entry under "N" (Who searches for National w/o knowing
there is such an entry?) And I don't know if it is possible, but an extra
mask for german t-online would be fine (you have to type 12+12+4 numbers as
username and you have to know that you have to do so, in their win-soft you
have 3 entries) I know they are stupid to make it so complicate, but maybe we
could ease it a bit.

6) some Call by Call provider would be fine to choose from (national ISPs that
have a known username and password, so people can fast connect to the net,
maybe asking some providers to provide steady actual data for that would be
sufficient, they have advertisement and people can dial in easily

7) (isdn-light) /etc/resolv.conf is empty after dial up. Alltough there is
content in /etc/ppp/resolv.conf . What happened to the ip-up script that
wrote the actual nameserver autmatically in /etc/resolv.conf ? Haven't
figured out yet what is wrong here. (Something for the Errata page). Further
isdn4net was selected in manual package selection , after installing
isdn-light is installed.

8) efax depends on kdeutils and kdevelop => urpme of efax not possible

9) description of drakxtools is not clear english:
"This add the capability to be runned behind a webserver to the drakxtools,
see package drakxtools"

"With this package you can run the drakxtools over a webserver to configure a
machine with the mandrake utilities over a network" ?? or sth like that ?

Else then the above just the usual issues (known issues):
a isdn4k-utils outdated
b no dial up for users (no pppuser or dial group, not the right ownership of
devices and commands or an sudoer entry)

Hope the above does not sound too harsh ;) I have just fast collected my
thoughts about the installation and postinstallation :).
