Since this message seems to have been ignored I just sent it again.
Also, since the KDE team doesn't care to comment on whether (ugly) new kdm is
there to stay: /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup_0 checks for kdmdesktop, which does not
exist anymore...

There have been some reports of
Definately important stuff there, hopefully it's dealt
with. One more thing along the same lines that should
probably be addressed was the directory in /tmp, the
ownership of which greatly impact KDE startup
performance. I believe it was .ICE-unix and needed to
be root.root
