I'm not sure what happened, but suddenly I am no longer able to install software: [root@localhost chas]# kpackage memory alloc (3701245008 bytes) returned NULL. [root@localhost chas]# rpmdrake memory alloc (3701245008 bytes) returned NULL. [root@localhost RPMS]# rpm -i libgtk+1.2-devel-1.2.10-3mdk.i586.rpm Segmentation fault I'm kind of at a loss, this started when I made the upgrade to XFree86 4.1, but I U/G'd a whole passel of other packages as well, so I'm not sure what is wrong. I thought it might be a hardware problem, so I played musical DIMMs for a while, but I get the same problem. Everything I use on a regular basis is working well enough though. Here are a few of the package versions I have installed that seem relevant: [root@localhost RPMS]# rpm -q drakxtools kdebase glibc rpm gurpmi grpmi rpmdrake rpm-devel rpmlint kernel-smp drakxtools-1.1.5-102mdk kdebase-2.2-0.alpha1.8mdk glibc-2.2.3-2mdk rpm-4.0-33mdk gurpmi-0.9-40mdk grpmi-8.0-9mdk rpmdrake-1.3-59mdk rpm-devel-4.0-33mdk rpmlint-0.31-1mdk kernel-smp-2.4.4-1mdk kernel-smp-2.4.4-6mdk kernel-smp-2.4.5-1mdk [root@localhost RPMS]# uname -r 2.4.5-1mdksmp It seems pretty bizzare that I can't install anything, but I seem to be able to querry the package database. Coincidentally, I have rebuilt the database, but only after this problem appeared. Many thanks, --Charles
