Actually that particular script did make it in and actually was in the
5mdk release.  However, I think it should go in the %preun, and
definately should not remove /lib/modules/*/modules.dep, but rather
/lib/modules/<kernel version being removed>/modules.dep.  The file needs
to be removed so that when rpm tries to remove the /lib/modules/<kernel
version being removed> directory it does not get an error.

That aside however, what I was referring to not making it into the
kernel was modified "%post [smp|fb|secure...]" scripts which sets up the
links for the kernel being installed to be the current kernel while also
backing up the old kernel into "linux.old".  As well the additional
package "freeswan" that I hacked into the kernel.  I uploaded my spec
file and my freeswan-1.2 patch file to the crypto ftp site a couple of
days ago.
