I dunno if this is the right place to post this message?... if it's in the wrong place, please pardon me, and please tell me the right place to post this. anyway, here goes. Thanks! Can anybody help me with this problem i have? Here are the facts, I recently upgraded my X into XFree86-4.0.1-27mdk. I also upgraded the required packages which almost wrecked my system. Now, I could not start my Gnome-Terminal as an ordinary user. My system returns me this error message: Error: unable to fork: Interrupted system call Gdk-ERROR **: X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown). So now, here's my temporary work-around. I start Xterm as user, then su to root. Then root's the one who runs the Gnome-Terminal. In the Gnome-Terminal, I then su back to user. It works, but it's a long work around. I dunno what settings Gnome-Terminal uses, why it gets denied using starting an X client??? But when I do the work-around... it doesn't complain a thing?!...
