Installed again from ftp.sunet.se today, 4 Apr, without much problem. Left my /home directory intact. I can start up KDE as root but it will not do anything past the splash screen. Just sits there with a blue screen. Same as what sawfish does. Blackbox comes up and so does gnome. Greg
