Yes, 2.4.2 is still buggy. If youre running Promise PDC202xx IDE
controller,
theres a chance for lockups. 2.4.2-12mdk works fine for PDC202xx. No
lockups
so far for me. I suggest you subscribe to the kernel ML and find out
which
release works best for your hardware.

Yes, right. I'm now back at 2.4.2-16mdk and everything is working smooth

*NO* freeze should be deep enough to prevent the replacing of a buggy
kernel! Fixing a buggy kernel should move the release date if it

There have been some posts here about machines hanging with
reiserFS. As I mentioned earlier I've been getting these
hangs as well. I could reliably get them by trying to install
a few RPMS (it wouldn't happen on the first install),
regardless of whether I do it from a console, urpmi,
rpmdrak
