I was able to boot using "linux textboot" from yaboot's boot:
Everything seemed to go fine (no Fails). At the end it went into the GUI
desktop/lo

Yes, I am able to boot into the rescue image on the install CD.
That is encouraging. Now what does that tell us, and what should I do next?

I'm trying to install Mandrake PPC 8.0 on my 667 Titanium Powerbook.
I burned the Mandrake PPC 8.0 CD after the beta became final. Finally got
through the whole install process by choosing install-a
D'oh, I forgot one detail... I had previously had an install of
LinuxPPC, and had custom-compiled a kernel for my machine that included
all the proper support. That's what I used to boot up in bootx, not the
on-disc kernel.

I have an s900 and found that Mandrake does not install easily if you have a
scsi cd, but give it a try.
Suse and YDL will both work with the scsi cd.
