You can see if the kernel saw the CDROM with: dmesg | grep hdc (is it hdc on these machines?) On my Lombard: [root@powerbook-cooker templates]# ls -l /dev/cdrom lr-xr-xr-x1 root root 13 Mar 25 03:18 /dev/cdrom - cdroms/cdrom0 This is what i got: [root@hilands root]#
