Freezing during install/partitioning

Whenever trying to go through the installation, I set up my partitions in the free space on my drive. Once it starts to partition it, the installer freezes, then a few minutes later reboots my comp. When looking in drive setup, it shows it partitioned correctly. Then I try once more to go back in to the installer, and it panics and says "Unable to access address pc....." and a list of letters/characters. Then it reboots.

If I partition using pdisk, the same error occurs when I try to start the installer.

The computer is a PMac 7300 with the standard 2 gig SCSI HD.
