Phil's bootx workaround solved my issues on my PM 4400 series machine! I was able to
completely install RC1, no issues.

I had an issue with the Mandrake Control Center not changing my X server resolution
and color. Seems that most of the things in the mandrake control center don't work on
ppc. I was able to bypass this minor annoyance by passing vmode:17,cmode:16 to the
kernel at bootup with bootx. That gave me 1024x768 @ 75hz with 16bit color. I'm using
the xpmac x server.

Only issue, display wise, that I have now is non-functioning arrow keys, and some
serious screen garbage. Each time I type, or move my mouse, the screen flickers with
a bunch of artifacts and garbage. It didn't do this at 640x480 and 8bit color.

Now another minor annoyance - the mandrake control center's internet sharing utility
doesn't configure ipchains properly. It also doesn't support internet sharing with
one ethernet card. It must require two.

Anyways, I'm fairly happy with my install of mandrake on my ppc.
