The CD boots from open firmware with boot cd:\\yaboot

"Welcome to yaboot version 0.9
Wrong partition 1 signature
Config file read, 2762 bytes

Welcome to Mandrake Linux PPC!
...
"

I suspect that that wrong partition 1 signature warning might be the
cause of the problem described below. It occurs after "Loading
kernel..." and "Loading ramdisk..." as well.

My powerbook is a 500 MHz G3, purchased in the summer of 2000 with the
translucent bronze keyboard.

I chose install-text from the yaboot prompt.
It goes through a mouse config, and then gives me
"No free space for 1MB bootstrap! Install will continue, but to boot
your system, you'll need to create the bootstrap partition in DiskDrake"
and an OK button. Which i select.

Next dialog:
"The DrakX Partitioning wizard found the following solutions:"
and two buttons. "Use existing partition" and "Erase entire disk"

Fine, i think. Erase the disk. I backed up yellowdog before i started
this.

Next dialog:
"ALL existing partitions and their data will be lost on drive hda (11GB,
IBM-DARA-212000)"
I picked OK.

(And as an aside, i've gone through these dialogs several times, picking
different options along the way. The all get me to the loop...)

Next dialog (Heading is "Error"):
"An error occurred
Need bootstrap partition to boot system!." <-- might want to fix having
                                                both . and ! there
with an OK button.

and then we are back to the "No free space for 1MB bootstrap!..."
dialog.

So... how do i create a bootstrap partition. Also, at this point, i
can't boot into either MacOS or my preexisting yellowdog partition.
